TECHNOCRACY
theoretical system of government and management based on principles devised by scientists and professional technicians and also administered by them. The technocratic movement started in the U.S. after World War I and was based on the belief that the advent of science and technology had made the traditional economic system obsolete. It offered instead a political system based on scientific and physical laws and an economic system based on units of "productive energy." The argument in favor of the technocratic system reached its peak during the Great Depression (1932-33), but its popularity declined considerably during the New Deal
EPTA Conference, December 3, Rome
Over-specialized regulators can slow down the process of reforming the areas that fall within their sphere by reproducing arrangements that have been rendered obsolete by technological innovation: this can lead to serious setbacks. The proliferation of regulators, in other words, can actually be a hidden cost hampering the adoption of integrated policies aimed to exploit all the possible synergies made possible by technological innovation
Luciano Violante
The Technocracy is a shadowy organisation, a group of sinister agents who manipulate and control humanity, ultimately strangling the creativity and individuality of the entire human species. They have been tinkering with the development of mankind, constantly forcing their own restricted scientific viewpoint on the collective consciousness of the world at large. They will stop at nothing in an endless quest to turn the world into a dark, horrible place with concrete boxes as homes, repetitive tedium as work, and bland 1984esque television as entertainment come brainwashing

The Technocracy is a collection of people with above average skills, intelligence and awareness, who police the dark places where humanity fears to tread. We educate the public, we spread the knowledge that will ultimately power our species to it's rightful place amongst the sentient peoples of the galaxy. We develop the technology that helps us live longer, makes our lives easier, cures disease and feeds the hungry. Ours are the fighters that patrol the wastes of space, preventing hostile creatures from harming our people, It is us who hunt down and destroy those creatures which have preyed on humanity since time immemorial. We are the Technocracy, and we are proud of our achievements
"There is no prescribed route to follow to arrive at a new idea. You have to make the intuitive leap. But the difference is that once you've made that intuitive leap you have to justify it by filling in the intermediate steps
Stephen Hawking
The Traditions, and indeed, many of our own staff erroneously believe that the advancement of science is the key weapon and source of power of the technocracy. In fact, as with so many things, this is not the case. Scientific investigation is important, certainly, but the real proof of a concept or theory is the engineering of that theory into a practical, viable, and most of all useful device
